V062-VENEZUELA DELCY VISITA A SUPERVIVIENTE
Venezuela's Acting President Delcy Rodriguez published on Friday (July 3) a video or her visit to the quake survivor Hernan Alberto Gil at a clinic on Thursday (July 2) after his dramatic rescue from the rubble of a collapsed shopping mall.
Gil was rescued from the collapsed basement of the Galerias Playa Grande shopping center in the coastal state of La Guaira, where he had been trapped since the powerful earthquakes of June 24.
Buried under 9 meters (29 feet) of wreckage from the collapsed shopping mall parking lot, Gil was freed on Thursday amid a delicate days-long effort by local and international rescue teams.
Rescue teams from seven countries — Venezuela, Chile, the United States, Portugal, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Mexico — worked around the clock over the past three days to reach him.
