Iran senior cleric, Ahmad Khatami, told worshippers during the Friday (June 12) prayers that the United States and Israel "understand the language of force," not talks or a ceasefire.

Addressing U.S. president, Donald Trump, and Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, he warned that "with the slightest mistake you will receive a firm slap."

His remarks came as a source told Reuters on Friday that a memorandum between the United States and Iran to halt the war in the Gulf could be signed as soon as Sunday (June 14), with Geneva emerging as the likely venue.

The source said language in the memorandum was still being finalised and Iran was sticking to its position that the deal must also end fighting in Lebanon, where Israel has been battling against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia.

Trump said on Thursday he was calling off new strikes on Iran because the deal was now ready.
