STORY: U.S.President Donald Trump said on Wednesday (January 14) that the leaker in the Venezuela case has been identified and is now in jail, referring to a Pentagon contractor arrested and charged with unlawful retention of national defense information related to the operation in Venezuela.

“The leaker has been found and is in jail right now… a very bad leaker,” Trump said. He added that authorities are “out on the trail” of possible additional leakers and that the individual already in custody “will probably be in jail for a long time.”

Trump also said he spoke earlier in the day with Venezuela’s new leader Delcy Rodriguez, describing the conversation as positive. He said the two had a “long call” in which they discussed a range of issues, adding that Rodriguez is “a terrific person” and that the United States is “getting along very well with Venezuela.”
