X609-ARGENTINA INTOXICACION MONOXIDO DE CARBONO
STORY: Five people died on Tuesday (July 1) in a house in Buenos Aires due to a suspected carbon monoxide poisoning, according to emergency services director Alberto Crescenti.
The victims included four adults aged between 42 and 79, and a 4-year-old girl. A 3-year-old baby was rescued and taken to the hospital, where the child is now out of danger.
Emergency services responded to a 911 call reporting unconscious individuals, and upon arrival, discovered the scene. The investigation is ongoing to confirm the cause, with initial reports suggesting a carbon monoxide leak from heating appliances, as a polar wave has descended upon Argentina's capital, causing temperatures to drop to -1°C (30°F).
The National Meteorological Service (SMN) had warned that on Tuesday, temperatures would reach freezing point in the capital, with sub-zero conditions spreading across the greater Buenos Aires area.
