STORY: Buildings were damaged and streets flooded after heavy rainfall in the French seaside town of Le Lavandou on Tuesday (May 20).

Video and photos taken in the area showed damaged beachside businesses, floodwaters in stairwells and cars partially submerged in a flooded street.

Reuters was able to independently verify the location by the road layout, buildings facades, businesses logos, interior's decor and trees which matched file and satellite imagery.

According to Lavandou's Mayor, an elderly woman died, and her husband is still missing after the heavy rainfall.
