X606-EEUU INUNDACIONES NUEVA JERSEY
STORY: A bus passenger in the northeast U.S. state of New Jersey on Monday (July 14) captured dramatic footage of severe flooding on the streets of the town of Guttenberg.
Video from the eyewitness, who was on a public bus in the Edgewater neighbourhood, showed cars ploughing through heavily flooded streets, as water also flowed into her bus. Reuters independently verified the date and location through the metadata on the original video files.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency on Monday and said two people died in Plainfield when their vehicle was swept away by floodwaters. Severe storms also lashed the New York City area.
The intense rainfall on Monday and Tuesday (July 15) caused widespread travel disruption across the region's airports, highways and railways.
