Iran’s joint military command top spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaqari denied on Wednesday (March 25) that the country will negotiate an end to the war with the U.S.

Speaking on Iranian state TV, Zolfaqari told the U.S. not to call their “defeat” an “agreement.” U.S. President Donald Trump said earlier this week that "productive" talks were already under way with unspecified Iranian officials.

A 15-point plan aimed at putting an end to the conflict was drafted by Washington and sent to Tehran, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters on Tuesday (March 24).

Zolfaqari also said U.S. investments and pre-war energy prices would not return as long as Washington does not accept that regional stability is guaranteed by Iranian armed forces.

Trump’s softer stance has brought a respite in financial markets, which have see-sawed but largely stabilized since Monday (March 23) when he postponed a threat to escalate the bombing by attacking Iran's civilian energy system.

Iran has consistently said no such talks have taken place, and derided Trump's announcement as an attempt to buy time and placate markets.
