British Prime Minister Andy Burnham on Wednesday (October 28) gave his condolences to Spain, after at least 64 people have been killed when two high-speed trains collided on Wednesday morning.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Burnham said he had been in touch with Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez to "offer any support".

This is the second deadly accident in less than a year on the line connecting Madrid to the southern Andalusia region, regional authorities said.

The collision comes nine months after an accident between high-speed trains belonging to the same operators on the same line that killed 46 people.
