People gathered in Gaza City's Al Shifa Hospital on Wednesday (August 26) for the funeral of Palestinians killed a day before in an Israeli strike on Jabalia, according to medics.

An Israeli airstrike killed on Tuesday (August 25) at least three people in the vicinity of a school housing displaced families in Jabalia in northern Gaza, medics said. The Israeli military didn't immediately comment.

An October 2025 U.S.-backed ceasefire halted major fighting in the shattered territory, but it failed to end strikes by the Israeli military, which it says aim to thwart attacks by Hamas and other Gaza militants.

More than 1,280 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire took effect in October, according to Gazan health officials, while the Israeli military says four Israeli soldiers have been killed.
