X057-SUDAN CONSECUENCIAS ATAQUE DRON
A drone crashed through a mosque's courtyard in the early morning of Wednesday (August 12) in Bahri, part of the wider capital region of Sudan, according to residents of the neighbourhood and Reuters footage.
The Sudanese Rapid Support Forces did not claim the attacks and the Sudanese army did not immediately comment. Reuters was unable to immediately verify who launched the drones or where they were launched from.
The RSF renewed its assault on the city of al-Obeid on Wednesday and stepped up drone and land attacks across the country this week following losses on several fronts, according to witnesses.
The RSF has found itself on the back foot lately in its war with the Sudanese army, a conflict that began in April 2023, drawing in foreign powers and creating what the United Nations considers the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

I woke up and saw it, because I was sleeping on the roof, the house roof, I thought it was a spraying plane, but afterwards, a short while later, we heard a very, very strong hit here at the mosque, which is 150 metres away from us. We came and saw the damage, the damage is clear on the base of the minaret of our neighbourhood's mosque. The damage hopefully wouldn't be big enough to impact it, but God willing, it will be checked so that people make sure of it."
