A devastating flash flood swept through parts of Nepal's Nuwakot district on Wednesday (August 26), leaving a trail of destruction along the banks of the Bhote Koshi river.

Drone footage from Nuwakot showed floodwaters surging through residential areas along the river, with several buildings enveloped in mud.

The cause of the flood was not immediately clear.

Torrential floods in the Himalayan border areas of Nepal and China's Tibet killed at least nine people and destroyed roads, bridges and power projects on Wednesday, as authorities in both countries braced for more casualties and worse damage.
