Iranians on Wednesday (April 1) gathered on the streets of Tehran to mourn slain Revolutionary Guards commanders, including slain Navy Commander, Alireza Tangsiri.

Crowds at the funeral rejected calls for a ceasefire, with Tehran resident Somaye Habibi saying there should be “no negotiations, no ceasefire, nothing of that sort whatsoever.””

Tangsiri was killed by Israel, following severe injuries, the government confirmed on Monday (March 30). An experienced commander in place since 2018, his death was another significant blow to Tehran.

Tangsiri had reportedly played a significant part in Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
