X006-EEUU CELEBRACIONES AFICIONADOS ESPAÑOLES DALLAS
Spain supporters turned the concourse outside Dallas stadium into a big fiesta on Tuesday (July 14), with drums pounding, trumpets blaring and chants of "Espana!" rolling into the air.
Spain's 2-0 defeat of France gave the red-clad majority every reason to dance, having watched their side control the semi-final from first whistle to last. Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro supplied the goals as Spain hoarded possession and left France's attack picking at scraps.
For the celebrating fans, the win was less about individual brilliance than about the sum of the parts.
"We're a team. That's what makes us great. We don't have great individuals. We're a team, and that's what makes us the collective force," said Spain supporter Raul Caballero Montes.
Fan Teresa Mengibar Peguero pointed to "the unity among the players, because if they didn't trust each other and didn't have a bond that allowed them to communicate, we would not have won this match."
For France, the dream curdled into a nightmare. Their supporters trudged out with little to sing about, searching for words to explain a side that never arrived.
"France didn't show up. They weren't the same team we had been watching. So it was a bit of a disappointment," said France fan Stephanie Rodriguez McLemore.
Spain now await the winners of England versus Argentina in Sunday's (July 19) final, one victory from a second World Cup title since 2010. On this evidence, the party has plenty left in it.
