"Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE! The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East. We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate. Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated. On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East, it is an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

Trump’s announcement came less than two hours before his 0000 GMT deadline on Wednesday for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face devastating attacks on its civilian infrastructure.

“It is hereby conveyed to the noble, great and heroic nation of Iran: The enemy, in its unjust, unlawful and criminal war against the Iranian nation, has suffered an undeniable, historic and crushing defeat. By the blessing of the pure and sacred blood of the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei, may God’s peace be upon him, the prudent leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Eminence Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, and the sacrifices and bravery of the fighters of Islam on the fronts, especially your historic, enduring and epic presence, dear people, on the scene from the very first days of the war, Iran has achieved a great victory and forced America, the criminal, to accept Iran's 10-point plan, in which it has, in principle, committed to non-aggression, the continuation of Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, acceptance of enrichment, the lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions, the termination of all resolutions of the UN Security Council and the Board of Governors, the payment of compensation to Iran, the withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from the region, and a halt to the war on all fronts, including against the heroic Islamic Resistance of Lebanon. We congratulate this victory to all the people of Iran and emphasise that until the finalisation of the details of this victory, there remains a need for steadfastness, prudent management by officials, and the preservation of unity and solidarity among the people of Iran."

"We woke up today at 6:30AM (2330GMT), it seems like there was a reaction from the White House through Trump's Truth Social account, saying that he's happy to accept Iran's '10-point' proposal, which will lead to a temporary ceasefire for two weeks and that Iran will have to reopen the Strait of Hormuz during this time. As soon as this announcement was released, it brought everyone a sense of relief and maybe there is a way to come to an end (of the war)."

So I think that in the last few days we've seen President Trump wanting to find a route towards a way that the US military can back out of the war with Iran, but also frame that as a kind of a victory for the U.S. or a victory for quote unquote peace.”
U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday (April 8) described a two-week ceasefire agreement with Iran as a “big day for world peace” that could usher in a new “golden age of the Middle East”.

"A big day for World Peace! Iran wants it to happen, they’ve had enough! Likewise, so has everyone else! The United States of America will be helping with the traffic buildup in the Strait of Hormuz. There will be lots of positive action! Big money will be made. Iran can start the reconstruction process. We’ll be loading up with supplies of all kinds, and just “hangin’ around” in order to make sure that everything goes well. I feel confident that it will. Just like we are experiencing in the U.S., this could be the Golden Age of the Middle East!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP"
