X005-UCRANIA BOMBARDEOS RUSOS ZAPORIYA
STORY: An overnight Russian attack on Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region left 13 people wounded, the region's governor Ivan Fedorov said on Wednesday (October 22).
Footage from emergency services showed firefighters battling blazes at buildings and emergency personnel evacuating people and dogs. Reuters was not able to independently verify the location or the date when the footage was filmed.
The frontline Zaporizhzhia region in Ukraine's southeast has been subject to continued strikes and shelling by Russian forces since the full-scale invasion of the country in 2022.
The overnight attack comes after the White House on Tuesday (October 21) put a planned summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on hold after Moscow rejected calls for an immediate ceasefire. A senior U.S. official told Reuters there were no plans for a meeting soon.
