X005-HONG KONG TIFÓN RAGASA
STORY: Massive waves triggered by Super Typhoon Ragasa hammered the Hong Kong coastline as the world's most powerful tropical cyclone this year lashed the city with hurricane-force winds and torrential rain on Wednesday (September 24).
Eyewitness video showed powerful waves pounding against barriers and rocks along the coastline at Tseung Kwan O New Town, lined with dozens of tall buildings.
Reuters was able to verify the location and date of the video by original file metadata from source which shows date and GPS coordinates.
Hong Kong issued the typhoon signal 10, its highest warning, early on Wednesday, which urges businesses and transport services to shut down.
Authorities have warned of rising sea levels, saying they could be similar to those seen during Typhoon Hato in 2017 and Typhoon Mangkhut in 2018, both of which caused billions of dollars in damage.
