X004-TAILANDIA INUNDACIONES
STORY: Flooding struck Thailand’s northern province of Nan on Wednesday (July 23) following the passage of Tropical Storm Wipha, with residents seen wading through waist-high muddy water as rain continued to fall.
The storm, which made landfall in Vietnam’s northern provinces of Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa early Tuesday (July 22) afternoon, brought wind speeds of up to 74 kph (46 mph), according to Vietnam's national weather forecasting agency. It had slowed from approximately 100 kph as it approached the coast.
Heavy rainfall from the storm has since affected parts of northern Thailand, including Nan province, where streets were inundated and local transportation disrupted.
Nan’s municipal authority issued its third public statement warning residents to remain vigilant and prepare for potential disaster situations resulting from the storm’s impact.
