US special envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Russia's St. Petersburg on Wednesday (October 21) from Norway, where he previously met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev met Witkoff at Pulkovo Airport. The two officials left the airport building and proceeded to the upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, Putin will host Witkoff at the Konstantinovsky Palace in St. Petersburg on Wednesday morning. The Ukraine conflict settlement will be the key issue of the talks, which were agreed upon several days ago.

"I don't know whether any agreement will be reached today, but the talks on the conflict in Ukraine are, of course, the main focus of today's discussions," Russian news agency Interfax quoted Ushakov as saying.

Ushakov also noted that Jared Kushner, who was initially expected to join, cancelled his trip to Russia due to an illness.
