V664-EEUU TRUMP ARANCELES RELACION CON CHINA
U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday (May 30) said China had violated an agreement on tariffs with the United States.
"China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US. So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!," Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.
U.S. trade talks with China were "a bit stalled" and getting a deal over the finish line will likely need the direct involvement of President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox News on Thursday. Two weeks after breakthrough negotiations that resulted in a temporary truce in the trade war between the world's two biggest economies, Bessent said progress since then has been slow, but said he expects more talks in the next few weeks.
Trump's post came two days after a reporter asked him to respond to the acronym 'TACO,' which she said was being referenced on Wall Street and stood for 'Trump Always Chickens Out' regarding tariffs. Trump defended his tariff negotiations and called her question "nasty", adding "don't ever say what. you said."
The U.S.-China agreement to dial back triple-digit tariffs for 90 days prompted a massive relief rally in global stocks. But it did nothing to address the underlying reasons for Trump's tariffs on Chinese goods, mainly longstanding U.S. complaints about China's state-dominated, export-driven economic model, leaving those issues for future talks.

1. TRUTH SOCIAL POST FROM U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP READING: "Two weeks ago China was in grave economic danger! The very high Tariffs I set made it virtually impossible for China to TRADE into the United States marketplace which is, by far, number one in the World. We went, in effect, COLD TURKEY with China, and it was devastating for them. Many factories closed and there was, to put it mildly, "civil unrest." I saw what was happening and didn't like it, for them, not for us. I made a FAST DEAL with China in order to save them from what I thought was going to be a very bad situation, and I didn't want to see that happen. Because of this deal, everything quickly stabilized and China got back to business as usual. Everybody was happy! That is the good news!!! The bad new is that China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH U.S. So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!"

3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER ASKING TRUMP:
"Mr. President, Wall Street analysts have coined a new term called the TACO trade - they're saying 'Trump always chickens out' on your tariff threats, and that's why markets are higher. What's your response to that?"
4. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP RESPONDING TO REPORTER'S QUESTION, SAYING:
"I kick out? Oh, I chicken out. I've never heard that. You mean because I reduced China from 145 percent that I set down to a hundred and then down to another number? And I said 'You have to open up your whole country' and because I gave the European Union a 50 percent tax tariff? And they called up and they said 'Please let's meet right now. Please, let's meet right now.' And I said, 'Ok, I'll give you until -' I actually asked them, I said 'What's the date?' because they weren't willing to meet. And after I did what I did, they said 'We'll meet anytime you want. And we have an end date of July 9.' You call that chickening out? Because we have $14 trillion invested - committed to investing - when Biden didn't have practically anything? This country was dying. You know we have the hottest country anywhere In the world. I went to Saudi Arabia, the King told me. He said 'You've got the hottest -" We have the hottest country in the world right now. Six months ago, this country was stone cold dead. We had a dead country. We had a country people didn't think was going to survive, and you ask a nasty question like that. It's called negotiation. You set a number. And if you go down - you know if I set a number, a ridiculously high number, and I go down a little bit, you know a little bit, they want me to hold that number - 145 percent tariff. Even I said 'Man, that really got up.' You know how it got? Because of Fentanyl and many other things. And you added it up. I said 'Where are we now?' 'We're at 145 percent.' I said, 'Whew, that's high. That's high.' They were doing no business whatsoever, and they were having lots of problems. We were very nice to China. I don't know if they're going to be nice to us. But we were very nice to China. And in many ways, I think we really helped China tremendously because you know they were having great difficulty because we were basically going cold turkey with China. We were doing no business because of the tariff. Because it was so high. But I knew that. But don't ever say what you said. That's a nasty question. To me that's the nastiest question."
