V645-BRASIL DECLARACIONES BOLSONARO TRAS EL REGISTRO DE SU CASA

18 de julio 2025 - 17:24

BRASILIA (BRASIL)

STORY: Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro said on Friday (July 18) he never considered fleeing the country and that a top court imposing precautionary measures against him, including wearing an ankle bracelet, amounted to his "supreme humiliation."

Bolsonaro on Friday had his home searched by police, adding to legal pressure that U.S. President Donald Trump has tried to end by threatening a steep tariff on Brazilian goods.

Lawmakers from Bolsonaro's right-wing Liberal Party said Bolsonaro was banned from contacting key allies including his son Eduardo, a Brazilian congressman who has been lobbying in Washington to help his father. On social media, the lawmaker tied the latest court order to a video his father released on Thursday thanking Trump for his support.

CNN Brasil reported that the court orders targeting Bolsonaro had been motivated by the risk of him fleeing to the United States, which the former president denied.
