V610-ISRAEL MIEDO REPRESALIAS
STORY: Israelis in Tel Aviv rushed to local supermarkets on Friday (June 13) following nationwide alerts warning of an imminent attack, as the government announced the launch of a military operation targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
“I woke up to the alarm and couldn’t get back to sleep,” said 53-year-old Tel Aviv resident, Amir Peles, while stocking up on supplies. “I thought I’d better get some supplies for the family, just in case," he added.
The Israeli military said it had struck key Iranian sites, including nuclear facilities, ballistic missile production centers, and senior military leadership compounds. Officials described the campaign as the beginning of a sustained effort to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Iranian state media and local witnesses reported multiple explosions, including at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility. In response, Israel declared a state of emergency, bracing for potential retaliatory missile and drone attacks.
