STORY: Eyewitness video released on Thursday (July 10) showed several climbers forced to brave fast-flowing water as they descended a hiking trail on Malaysia's Mount Kinabalu following torrential rains.
According to Sabah Parks, the climbers safely navigated the dangerous conditions after a sudden downpour caused water to overflow from the plateau early on Thursday (July 10).
Reuters was able to confirm the location of the video as Ranau District from the huts, the hiking trail and the exterior of the mountain, which matched file imagery of the area. The date when the video was recorded could not be verified independently. However, the parks authority in Sabah, Malaysia, made a statement saying that torrential rain occurred in the area at 6.15 a.m. on July 10.
