STORY: FBI agents and police searched on Thursday (May 22) a residence in a Chicago neighborhood believed to be the home of Elias Rodriguez, the suspect in the deadly shooting of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington DC.

The residence has not been confirmed to be Rodriguez's, but significant police and FBI activity was seen there. Officers and agents continually entered and exited the home .

The victims, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, were shot and killed as they left an event at the Capital Jewish Museum, about 1.3 miles (2 km) from the White House. According to Washington Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith, a man shot at a group of four people with a handgun, hitting both the victims. He was seen pacing outside the museum prior to the shooting. Smith said the single suspect, identified as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago, chanted "Free Palestine, Free Palestine," after being taken into custody by event security having entered the museum.

Israel's Minister of Economy and Industry, Nir Barkat was in Washington to promote bilateral relations when he heard the news. "And we woke up to a terrible morning where we've learned that both Yaron and Sarah [referring to victims Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim] two young Jews, Israelis on a mission here as part of the embassy, were murdered in cold blood by a terrorist who decided to kills Israelis and Jews," he said while visiting the scene on Thursday.

"I'm here on a mission to speak to my peers here in Washington, how to promote the relationship between the United States and Israel. And we woke up to a terrible morning where we've learned that both Yaron and Sarah [referring to victims Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim] two young Jews, Israelis on a mission here as part of the embassy, were murdered in cold blood by a terrorist who decided to kills Israelis and Jews. For me, it's very clear that it's direct incitement that is happening globally, headed by Qatar, they put trillions of dollars in the United States to shift public opinion. To incite against Israelis and against Jews, and they must be stopped. Them, and everyone must understand that terror is not just and Israeli challenge, it's a global challenge. And if it happens here in Washington, it could happen anywhere around the world and we must all united to combat terror together. We must never allow something like this to happen, not here in Washington, nowhere in the world."
