President Donald Trump said on Friday (September 26) that he is close to a deal to end the war in Gaza and bring hostages home.

Trump made the comments to reporters before departing the White House to attend the Ryder Cup golf tournament in New York.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at the United Nations on Friday and will meet with Trump at the White House on Monday.

Frustration over Israel’s military siege and Trump’s unwillingness to rein Netanyahu in has spilled into the open at the annual New York gathering where, in a dramatic shift, Australia, Britain, Canada and France and several other nations embraced a Palestinian state.

Netanyahu followed to the rostrum Arab and Muslim leaders who this week accused Israel of genocide and war crimes in Gaza. The Israeli government has denied this.
