Rescue work was ongoing in Tehran on Friday (March 27) after local media reported a strike on a residential building.

"Claims that only military areas are targeted and not residential areas are completely false, " said Pirhossein Kolivand, head of the Iranian Red Crescent. "All the areas being hit now are residential."

Reuters could not independently verify the numbers quoted by the Iranian Red Crescent in this video.

U.S.-based rights group HRANA said on Wednesday (March 25) that 3,300 people have been killed in Iran since the war erupted. It said 1,464 of those were civilians, including at least 217 children. The group says its data comes from field reports, local contacts, medical and emergency sources, civil society networks, open-source materials and official statements.

At least 1,500 civilians have been killed in the U.S.-Israeli strikes so far, Iran's ambassador to the U.N. said on Wednesday. It was not clear if those figures included at least 104 people who the Iranian military said were killed in a U.S. attack on an Iranian warship off Sri Lanka on March 4.
