Moscú, Rusia

Russian President Vladimir Putin via video link chaired on Friday (October 17) a meeting with the permanent members of the country's Security Council, Kremlin said.

Opening the session, Putin said that the item on agenda was prospecting of mineral resources on the seabed. The report by the minister of natural resources was to be supplemented by the Russian Foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, Putin added.

The event took place a day after Putin's call with U.S.President Donald Trump when the two leaders announced their plan to meet in Budapest in fortnight to discuss Ukrainian settlement which was the focus of their summit in Anchorage last August.

Earlier on Friday Putin had a call with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Orban said he was ready to ensure necessary conditions for the Russia-U.S. summit.

Senior Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said after Putin-Trump call that the meeting between Lavrov and U.S.Secretary of State Marco Rubio next week will precede the summit in Budapest.
