Video obtained by Reuters showed Israeli soldiers outside a besieged house in the Palestinian village of Qusra on Thursday (August 20), throwing belongings and other items out from a balcony.

Another footage on Friday (August 21) obtained by Reuters showed Israeli soldiers at a different house belonging to Raed Ridi, the brother of a Palestinian-American Loui Ridi whose home in Qusra has been encircled by militant settlers for more than a week. The soldiers were filmed throwing items into a well outside the house.

Reuters confirmed the location by buildings, fence, road layout and terrain which matched satellite imagery and other videos verified by Reuters. The date when the videos were filmed was verified by Reuters talking to the source.

Reuters reached out to the Israeli military for comment. It said it was checking the incidents.

Settlers have been besieging homes in Qusra for almost a week, intensifying pressure on Palestinians in an area where rights groups say settlers are mounting a concerted effort to seize more land, taking up territory where Palestinians aim to establish a state.

Violence by Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank has been on the rise, some emboldened by the government of right-wing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has spearheaded a massive settlement expansion in the territory.

U.N. bodies and most countries deem the settlements illegal under international law regarding military occupations. Israel rejects this, viewing the area as disputed rather than occupied.
