Palestinians on Friday (September 12) scoured through rubble in Gaza City's al-Shati (Beach) camp, searching for whatever remained of their belongings following Israeli strikes the previous night.

There were no reports of casualties as Israel issued warnings to evacuate the houses before it hit them.

The war was triggered by Hamas-led attacks launched from Gaza on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, in which 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed, and 251 taken hostage, according to Israeli tallies.

Israel's military assault on Gaza has killed more than 64,000 people, mostly civilians, according to local health authorities, caused a hunger crisis and wider humanitarian disaster, and reduced much of the enclave to rubble.

Yet the occupation (referring to Israel) still chases us. So in the first hour of the morning, they said ‘we want to demolish houses’, so here they demolished the first house, okay, we said it’s safe, we cleaned and worked, but they returned with another house and another house and another house, I mean, all the houses - bundles of fire - but why, for example? what have we done?"
