V051-RUSIA COLAS EN GASOLINERAS MOSCU POR ATAQUES

14 de agosto 2026 - 18:57

Moscú, Rusia

Dozens of motorists on Friday (August 14) were seen queuing at the gas stations in Moscow as fuel crisis returns to Russia's capital amid Ukrainian drone attacks on energy infrastructure. Drivers are again reporting fuel shortages, particularly of AI-95 petrol.

"I've already been standing here for about 30 minutes, and as you can see, there are still five cars ahead of me. That will probably take another 20 minutes. I end up being away from work for about an hour just to fill up a company vehicle. So, this problem hasn't gone away", - Moscow resident, Dmitry, said.

The first wave of fuel shortages emerged in late June and early July after Ukrainian drone strikes hit the Moscow oil refinery and other refining facilities across Russia. The situation in the Russian capital had largely stabilised by mid-July.

"It's unexpected because we'd already relaxed and things had got better. But today the problems are back again. It's not pleasant, of course. At the weekend, you want to go to your dacha (summer house in the countryside), but no one knows, what the situation will be like there in the Moscow region", -- a Moscow resident, Nadezhda, said.

Some petrol stations have closed, while others are selling only diesel. Fuel supply problems have again intensified in several Russian regions, including the Tula, Tambov and Kaluga regions, as well as the Primorsky and Krasnodar territories.

The disruptions come amid continued Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. An oil refinery in the Russian city of Orsk, hit by a Ukrainian drone strike on Wednesday (August 12) has been forced to shut down completely, regional authorities said.

Ukraine has stepped up attacks on Russian oil refining facilities this year in an effort to raise the cost to Moscow of continuing - what Russia calls "special military operation" - launched against Ukraine in 2022. The strikes have contributed to periodic fuel supply disruptions and shortages in some Russian regions.

"We're struggling quite a lot because these queues take up so much time. It also affects our work. We're basically losing working hours just waiting to refuel. I've already been standing here for about 30 minutes, and as you can see, there are still five cars ahead of me. That will probably take another 20 minutes. I end up being away from work for about an hour just to fill up a company vehicle. So, this problem hasn't gone away. As for how to deal with it, I honestly can't say."

""I'm standing in a queue. (JOURNALIST ASKING : Have you been waiting long?) Well, not so long, but I can see the queue growing right before my eyes. Many petrol stations have no petrol, and at some it's available only to fuel card holders, so there are queues everywhere. We'll see what happens next. It's not pleasant."

"Well, it's tough, especially if you work in delivery services, because fuel gets used up pretty quickly. I drive for a couple of days, my tank holds 45 litres and that's enough for about two days, and then I have to stand in a queue like this all over again. There are certain difficulties, but I think we'll manage one way or another.""
