Drone video recorded a ship cracking through sheets of ice on the Danube on Wednesday (January 14) as a prolonged bout of winter weather grips Central Europe.

The video from Hungary's North Transdanubian Water Management Directorate shows the ship clearing routes through the ice on the river as it runs along Hungary's northern border with Slovakia.

Central Europe has faced unusually cold weather in recent weeks, with rivers and lakes freezing over, some for the first time in years.
