31 de julio 2026 - 11:01

Videos shot by an eyewitness on Thursday (July 30) showed crowds storming buildings and pouring into the border-crossing complex at Beni Ansar, Morocco, on the border with Spain’s Melilla.

Beni Ansar has been the only open crossing between Morocco and Melilla, Spain’s second autonomous city in North Africa, for the past six years.

Reuters was able to confirm the location of the video from building, telecommunication towers and road layout which matched archive and satellite imagery of the area. The date when the video was filmed is not verified, however no older version of the footage was found posted online before July 30.

Meanwhile on Thursday, Spain deployed military units to reinforce police in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, also in North Africa, as migrants surged into the territory by sea and land from Morocco. Video footage showed hundreds of migrants swimming or floating on inner tubes from the Moroccan side, and others breaking through a gate on land and running into the city.
