STORY: At least five people died as a result of a fire at a huge fairground in southeastern Mexico, authorities said on Thursday (May 7).
The blaze, whose cause is still unknown, broke out early on Thursday in Villahermosa, in Tabasco state, and has now been brought under control, Civil Protection said. According to local media, the fire spread while a concert attended by thousands of people was taking place.
Media outlets and social media users showed images of the moment of the tragedy, in which dozens of people can be seen fleeing the site in panic as a column of black smoke covered the sky.
