V008-BRASIL LULA HACIENDO DEPORTE
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, 80, was seen working out at a gym in a video released on April 6 by his wife and first lady Rosangela "Janja" da Silva, who livestreamed the early morning session on social media.
The footage comes as Lula prepares for October's presidential election, which would be his seventh run for the country's top office.
Lula is expected to face Flavio Bolsonaro, a 44-year-old senator and son of former far-right president Jair Bolsonaro, who is now serving a 27-year sentence for plotting a coup to remain in power.
The video is the latest in a series of workout clips shared by Lula's team, as the veteran left-wing leader looks to convince voters he is fit enough to serve another term
In the video, Janja can be heard saying her husband had been at the gym since 6am and had already completed 45 minutes on the treadmill, while Lula himself offered his own fitness philosophy: "Anyone who wants to live to 120 years old has to do what I do, otherwise they won't make it."
