SHOWS: An Iranian missile attack hit Israel's Oil Refineries ORL.TA in the northern port city of Haifa but did not cause "significant damage", Israel's Energy Ministry said on Thursday (March 19).

Energy Minister Eli Cohen said power was briefly disrupted, with electricity restored to most of those who were affected.

"The damage to the power grid in the north is localized and not significant," Cohen said. "Also, in the barrage toward the north, there was no significant damage to Israeli infrastructure sites." (5647-IRAN-CRISIS/ISRAEL-REFINERY)

Israel carried out strikes targeting the Iranian navy in the Caspian Sea for the first time on Wednesday (March 18), an Israeli military spokesperson said on Thursday (March 19), telling reporters that Iran's naval capabilities in the inland sea had been largely disabled.

Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani said on Thursday (March 19) that the Air Force struck Iranian naval targets in the Caspian Sea, adding that Israel took out Tehran's naval capabilities there. He did not say when the strikes were carried out.

The Israeli army released a video on Thursday said to show airstrikes on Iranian assets in the Caspian Sea.

Reuters verified the location for part of the video as Bandar Anzali, Iran by the buildings, road layout and infrastructure which matched satellite imagery. Reuters was not able to confirm the location for the part of the video purporting to show the Caspian Sea. (5667-IRAN-CRISIS/ISRAEL-CASPIAN)

A cloud of black smoke filled the sky over Saudi Aramco's oil refinery at the Red Sea port of Yanbu on Thursday (March 19) after it was hit by a drone.

Reuters was able to confirm the location from the road layout, shape of the buildings and towers, which matched satellite imagery of the site. The approximate location of the fire is 23.973772997129032, 38.241194449957554.

The date when the video was filmed was verified as the Saudi Defence Ministry confirmed on March 19 that a drone fell on the Aramco-Exxon refinery, SAMREF.

No older versions of the video were also found posted online before March 19. (5605-IRAN-CRISIS/YANBU-UGC2)

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Thursday (March 19) that Turkey was conveying "friendly" advice to Iran to avoid spreading its war with the United States and Israel to the Middle East, and added Tehran's attacks on regional countries were unacceptable.

FM Fidan said the only agenda item was how to stop Iran’s attacks against the region and countries in the region. Meanwhile, Qatar rejected Iran’s claims that Wednesday's attacks on gas facilities in the Gulf state were aimed at U.S.-linked sites, its prime minister said. “The only agenda item was how to stop Iran’s attacks against the region and countries in the region that are directly and heavily exposed to these attacks held a meeting to seek advice from brotherly countries like us about the measures to be taken"

10. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) QATAR'S PRIME MINISTER AND MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, SHEIKH MOHAMMED BIN ABDULRAHMAN AL THANI, SAYING:

"There are unfortunately, continuous Iranian claims that the attacks are attacks on U.S. assets or on U.S. bases in Qatar and the region, we reject this claim which cannot be accepted under any circumstance. The biggest proof of this, is that the attack which happened yesterday, was an attack on a Qatari natural gas facility which is a source of income for the Qatari people, but not just for the Qatari people, what they did yesterday also impacted the millions of people who Qatar is helping."

American and Israeli objectives for the war on Iran are not the same, U.S. Director of National ‌Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said on Thursday (March 19) , with Israel focused on disabling Iran's leadership and U.S. President Donald Trump focused on destroying Iran's ballistic missile program and navy. 13. (SOUNDBITE) (English) DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE TULSI GABBARD, BEING QUESTIONED BY REP. JOAQUIN CASTRO (D-TEXAS) SAYING: (SOUNDBITE CONTINUES OVER DIFFERENT SHOTS OF CASTRO AND GABBARD DURING EXCHANGE)

CASTRO:"So my question is what does the intelligence community assess Israel's goals in this world in this war to be? And are those goals aligned with the goals of the United States?"

GABBARD: "I'm thinking carefully here about what can be said in this open setting versus a closed setting."

CASTRO: "Are the goals aligned?"

GABBARD: "The objectives that have been laid out by the president are different from the objectives that have laid out by the Israeli government."

CASTRO "And how do they differ?"

GABBARD: "We can see through the operations that the Israeli government has been focused on disabling the Iranian leadership and taking out several members, obviously, beginning with the Ayatollah, the Supreme Leader. And they continue to focus on that effort."

CASTRO: "How does that differ from our goal?"

GABBARD: "The president has stated that his objectives are to destroy Iran's ballistic missile launching capability, their ballistic missile production capability, and their Navy, the IRGC Navy, and mine laying capability."

CASTRO:" So the death and destruction continues. The economic cost to the United States, to Israel, to the Gulf states, and to the world continues to increase. So I want to ask you, to the best of your knowledge, do you know whether Israel is supportive of the president's call to make a deal with Iran?"

GABBARD: "I don't know the answer to that. I don't know Israel's position on that."

CASTRO: "And to what do you attribute Israel's decision to strike Iranian energy infrastructure, despite President Trump's call to keep those facilities off limits?"

GABBARD: "I don't have an answer for that."

14. (SOUNDBITE)(English) CIA DIRECTOR JOHN RATCLIFFE, SAYING:

"What we know, and the intelligence community is in agreement on this, is that Iran possesses at least 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to weapons grade 60 percent, which doesn't have a civilian use. The only use for that would be the development of nuclear weapons."

15. HEARING UNDERWAY

Iran executed three men on Thursday (March 19) convicted of killing two police officers during unrest earlier this year, state media reported, saying the sentences had been upheld by the Supreme Court.

Also on Thursday, Iranian state media released video of proceedings in the courtroom for three men arrested over January protests.

The judiciary said the men were found guilty of murder and “Moharebeh” (waging war against God), including carrying out acts it said were in favour of Israel and the United States. The executions were carried out in the religious city of Qom.

Authorities said the three had taken part in attacks using knives and other weapons during protests on January 8, killing two police officers. (5601-IRAN-CRISIS/EXECUTIONS)

A funeral procession was held in Qom on Thursday (March 19) for slain Iranian security chief Ali Larijani and his son Morteza. Mourners carried portraits and Iranian flags while the coffins were borne away.

Iran's security chief Ali Larijani was killed by Israel, the government confirmed on Tuesday (March 17), the most senior figure targeted since the U.S.-Israeli war's first day.

Larijani was widely viewed as one of Iran's most powerful figures and a confidant of slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his son and successor, Mojtaba. The security chief had a reputation for pragmatic relations with other factions in the ruling system and foreign diplomats. (5595-IRAN-CRISIS/LARIJANI-FUNERAL-QOM)
