V006-MEXICO MIGRANTES RECORREN PAIS
VIDEO SHOWS: MIGRANTS WALKING / SOUNDBITES OF MIGRANTS
STORY: Hundreds of migrants, mainly from Central America and Cuba, departed in a caravan from the southern Mexican city of Tapachula on Thursday (August 20), seeking to reach central and northern Mexico after months of waiting in migration and asylum processes. The group, known as "Dreams Without Borders," includes migrants deported under U.S. President Donald Trump's administration, as well as others who say they have been stranded in southern Mexico due to delays in immigration procedures. Migrants said they hope to continue their applications with Mexico's refugee agency and find work elsewhere in the country. Local organizations estimate more than 60,000 migrants are currently stranded in the region. (Camera: José Torres; Editing: Alicia Fernández)

2. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) HONDUREAN MIGRANT, JOSÉ DÍAZ ELVIR, SAYING:
"I am from Honduras, and many of us have decided to leave because we have no other option. We cannot travel by bus and we cannot travel in vans because we get stopped. There is a lot of danger for us on buses and public transportation here in Mexico. So this is the only way we can reach our destination and move forward, leaving it in God's hands."

4. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) CUBAN MIGRANT, FRANCISCO GÓMEZ TORO, SAYING:
"As far as my feet can take me, anywhere but Tapachula, because this is a prison for human beings. They do not let you go anywhere from here. People like me had no money and slept on the streets, but the police would not let us sleep anywhere. They put us through psychological punishment here. And if they catch you, they take you to Siglo XXI and leave you there."
