An uncrewed Blue Origin New Glenn rocket exploded on the launchpad during a test on Thursday (May 28), in a major setback for Jeff Bezos’ space venture as it seeks to narrow the gap with Elon Musk’s IPO-bound SpaceX.

Eyewitness footage showed the aftermath of the explosion, with fire and smoke on the rocket launch pad in Cape Canaveral.

Reuters was able to confirm the location from waterbody, road layout, , building and launch pad facilities which matched file and satellite images. Date was confirmed by original file metadata. Footage showed the scene after the explosion which was confirmed by timestamp from the original file metadata

Blue Origin said it had experienced an “anomaly”, a term commonly used by rocket companies to describe a launch failure or explosion
