A landslide buried several residential buildings along the Wujiang river in Chongqing, southwestern China on Friday (July 17), trapping an unknown number of people, according to local media.

The landslide occurred at 9:08 a.m. local time (0108 GMT) in Hanjia subdistrict, Pengshui. Footage from the state-run broadcaster showed firefighters responding to the scene.

Seven people have been rescued from the debris, local media reported. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
