STORY: Russian forces captured the village of Oleksandro-Shultyne in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, the Russian defence ministry said on Thursday (August 21).

Video shared by the ministry showed troops throwing explosive devices among buildings purported to be in the village.

Reuters was able to independently verify the location from 0:00 to 0:33 with the position of the buildings, poles and train tracks that matched the satellite imagery of the area.

Reuters was not able to independently verify the location from 0:34 to 1:09.

The date when the video was filmed was not verified.

The ministry said its troops carried out strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, military-industrial facilities and airfield infrastructure overnight.
