Eyewitness video obtained by Reuters showed a huge plume of smoke rising into the sky in Russia's Volgograd region on Friday (July 31).

Reuters was able to confirm the location from buildings, vegetation and road layout which matched with file and satellite images. The date was verified by official reports as regional governor Andrei Bocharov wrote on

Telegram on Friday that a drone attack touched off a fire at an energy facility and warehouses. NASA FIRMS detected thermal activities in the direction where the smoke was shown in the video on the morning of July 31.

Five people are seeking medical help after the attacks, Bocharov, said on Telegram.

Russia's top online retailer Wildberries said in a Telegram statement that one of its logistic hubs in the city of Volgograd caught fire following the attack, but there were no injuries.

Ukraine has recently stepped up attacks on Wildberries facilities, as it keeps up strikes on energy facilities that have triggered a supply crisis across most of Russia.
