Emergency services were seen at a rubber factory in the Japanese city of Mishima on Friday (December 26) after reports of a stabbing attack.

Fifteen people were injured after a man stabbed several with a knife at a factory in central Japan on Friday, Japanese local media reported.

According to the public broadcaster NHK, an unspecified liquid was also sprayed during the attack which happened at Yokohama Rubber Company’s factory in Mishima, Shizuoka Prefecture.

A 38-year-old man who was wearing what appeared to be a gas mask was arrested at the scene by police on suspicion of attempted murder, reported NHK.

Among the injured, eight were stabbed with a knife, and six others are believed to have had a liquid poured on them, said NHK.
