V005-ISRAEL VEHÍCULOS ARMADA EN FRONTERA GAZA
STORY: Israeli army armoured vehicles were moving near Gaza border on Friday (October 10), some driving along the dirt paths while others were loaded onto flatbed trucks.
In the early hours of Friday, Israel's government ratified a ceasefire with the Palestinian militant group Hamas, clearing the way to suspend hostilities in Gaza within 24 hours and free Israeli hostages held there within 72 hours after that.
The deal was announced by mediators on Thursday (October 9) and it calls for the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and the start of a phased withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza under U.S. President Donald Trump's initiative to end the two-year war in Gaza.
