V005-IRAN REACCIONES AL ANUNCIA DE TRUMP

12 de junio 2026 - 10:53

Iran has not yet made a final decision on a possible agreement with the U.S., Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on Thursday (June 11).

He told Iranian media that Washington "tried to impose a series of unreasonable demands and requests" in the past few days.

He added that a large part of the negotiating text had been finalized but the U.S. repeatedly changed its positions during the talks.

President Donald Trump on Thursday said the United States and Iran could sign a peace deal as soon as this weekend that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping.

The deal, if confirmed, would be the most significant diplomatic breakthrough yet to end the three-month-old war, which has killed thousands of people and sent global energy prices sharply higher.

Trump has repeatedly said that any peace deal must ensure Iran cannot develop a nuclear weapon. Iran denies it is seeking such a weapon.

Iran's demands include the lifting of international sanctions, the release of billions of dollars in frozen assets and recognition of its control of the Strait of Hormuz.

"Regardless of the rhetoric, threats and claims of the other side, we are focused on the interests of the Iranian nation. We are doing our own work. Regarding the text and the overall understanding, whenever we conclude that it secures the interests of the Iranian nation, we will certainly announce it transparently. As I speak to you at this moment, we have not reached a final conclusion on this matter. This is a very important issue that is being reviewed by the relevant decision-making bodies."

"In the past few days, they again tried to impose a series of unreasonable demands and requests. The Islamic Republic of Iran has certainly shown, both in diplomacy and on the battlefield, that it will in no way surrender to the illegitimate conditions and demands of the other side."

5. (SOUNDBITE) (Farsi) IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESPERSON, ESMAIL BAGHAEI, SAYING:

"Regarding the negotiations, the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly announced that it entered the diplomatic process in good faith and with a responsible approach. The problem we faced from the beginning in this diplomatic process stemmed from the contradictory approaches of U.S. officials. In addition to the fact that they have so far, on two occasions, carried out military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran during negotiations and committed countless crimes, during this two-month period from 8 April until now, when we have been in a ceasefire situation, they have repeatedly violated the ceasefire, both the United States and the Zionist regime, through attacks on Lebanon."
