Eyewitness video showed students taking cover in a classroom as a student opened fire at a school in Thailand on Friday (August 7).

The shooter, a Thai teenager, killed five people and himself at a school outside Bangkok after fatally shooting his grandparents, police said, in the Southeast Asian nation's worst mass killing since 2022.

Reuters was able to confirm the location from classroom setting, ceiling colour, desks, chairs and student uniforms match archive images. Date was not verified but no older version of the video was posted online before August 7.

Police said the shooter, who was 14 years old, fired at least 26 bullets, and was found with 34 additional ammunition rounds. The gun had belonged to his grandfather, police said.
