STORY: At least five people were killed, and several were injured on Thursday (August 21) after a bomb attack in Cali, western Colombia, attributed to a faction of dissidents from the former FARC guerrilla group, authorities said.

In Cali, the country's third most populous city, a cargo vehicle loaded with explosives detonated near a Colombian Air Force base, killing five people, President Gustavo Petro said during an event.

Petro blamed the attack on dissident factions of the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrilla group that rejected a 2016 peace deal to end a long-running internal conflict that has left more than 450,000 people dead.
