S611-REINO UNIDO SOLSTICIO STONEHENGE

21 de junio 2025 - 17:18

Amesbury, Inglaterra

Crowds of revellers early Saturday morning (June 21) gathered before sunrise at Stonehenge to mark the summer solstice.

The celebrations took place by the stones of the prehistoric megalithic structure, some of which last year were covered by orange spray paint by environmental protesters.

The monument, one of Britain's most visited tourist spots, also holds spiritual significance and attracts thousands of revellers, spiritualists and tourists during the summer solstice - the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

Stonehenge, which is thought to date back 5,000 years, is a circle of standing stones in the southern county of Wiltshire and each year attracts visitors to celebrate both the winter and summer solstices. It is built in alignment to the midsummer sunrise and the midwinter sunset.
