STORY: Hours before the Champions League final kick-off on Saturday evening (May 31), thousands of Inter Milan and Paris St. Germain fans created a stadium atmosphere in Munich city centre.

Fans sang and celebrated in summery temperatures, and, of course, the Bavarian beer was sampled along with the Inter and French chants.

According to the Munich police, as of the afternoon it remained largely peaceful.

To keep it that way, around 2,000 police officers and scene experts from Italy and France were deployed to ensure security around the match. The fans were certainly full of anticipation on Saturday afternoon.

"I hope Inter win. We have come from Sicily to support Inter. We hope that it's a good sporting match, that it's a good football match and that Inter win," said Vincenzo from Sicily.

"We deserve to win. After so many years of hardship and struggle, we've come here to win. We've got a good spirit this year, a good team spirit, and we hope to win," said PSG fan, Kevin Hache.

The Munich stadium is sold out as fans go to match with no clear favourite.

Whoever wins, fans of both teams were already proud before kick-off that their teams had even made it to the final.
