STORY: British comedian Ricky Gervais described his success as 'a cocktail of luck, persistence and a little bit of pushing against the tide', as he received the 2,813th star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in the Television category on Friday (May 30).

Gervais said, "I am humbled and to have my name etched on this legendary Walk of Fame, a place that celebrates the dreamers and doers of the industry."

He was joined by actor Christopher Guest at the ceremony, who told the crowd he was reading remarks that Gervais had written himself.

Gervais is the creator and star of hit television shows ‘The Office, ‘Extras’, ‘Derek’, and ‘After Life’. He has hosted the Golden Globes five times. His Netflix stand-up specials 'Humanity' and 'SuperNature' were global hits, and his third special 'Armageddon' won a Golden Globe, was nominated for a Grammy. It was the global number 1 most-watched show on Netflix following a record-breaking international tour, selling out 85 arena dates across the world. Gervais’s show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest-grossing comedy gig ever.
