Peruvian authorities on Friday (June 6) presented 5.5 metric tonnes of seized drugs, representing part of a larger 13-tonne haul confiscated during a three-week anti-narcotics operation, according to the Interior Ministry."

The seizures, conducted between May 15 and June 5, targeted areas with higher incidences of drug production and trafficking, including Loreto, Tumbes, Piura, Moquegua, Cusco, Puno, and La Libertad, as well as border regions with Brazil and Ecuador, according to the ministry's statement.

The drugs recovered included cocaine hydrochloride, cocaine base paste, and marijuana, with police arresting 15 individuals.

The ministry reported that the Anti-Drug Directorate of the Peruvian National Police has seized more than 132 tonnes of drugs in 2025.

"The drugs that were in Cusco were going to Brazil, those that were on the boat were going to Ecuador, but they don't stay in Ecuador and not all stays in Brazil, the vast majority ends up going to Europe or perhaps to Mexico, but ultimately they go to Europe in larger percentage and to North America in smaller percentage, but it has to be via Mexico."
