STORY: Indonesia’s national disaster management agency said rescue operations would continue on Saturday (May 31) following a rock collapse at a quarry in West Java which killed at least 10 people and injured six.

The collapse took place in Cirebon on Friday (May 30), where drone footage showed excavators working to move huge rocks.

The national disaster management agency said heavy machinery, including three excavators, were also buried under rocks. It gave no estimate on the number of people missing.

Reuters was able to independently verify the location with the mountains, terrain and position of the buildings that matched the file and satellite imagery of the area. Reuters was able to independently verify the date with the original file metadata from the source and corroborating reports from the national disaster management agency.
