STORY: Prague's historic city centre was an explosion of colour and music on Saturday (August 8) as the city's Pride festival took to the ancient streets.

Thousands joined the march through the Czech capital, while a small number of counter demonstrators hung anti-LGBT banners on an overpass. There were no reports of disorder.

According to a 2023 European Union study, the Czech Republic has one of the lowest levels of perceived discrimination in Central and Eastern Europe. The survey found 65% of LGBTQ+ people in the country said they had not experienced discrimination in the previous year, or par with Ireland and above the EU average of 63%.
